The Fast and Furious franchise has wrecked a total of 1,487 cars from the first movie of the franchise all the way up to Furious 7. That total does not include all the mangled cars from Fast 8 (Fate of the Furious), Fast 9, and the Hobbs & Shaw spin-off movie. Put those together and the vehicular carnage in the franchise probably exceeds 2,000 cars. That’s a lot of twisted metal spread out over two decade’s worth of Fast and Furious movies.

A 2020 article on Screenrant broke down how many cars were wrecked in each of the first seven films in the Fast & Furious franchise. You can tell how much more emboldened Universal Studios became when it came to crashing cars for entertainment’s sake.

That number almost doubled in 2 Fast 2 Furious with 130 wrecked cars. Another spike occurred in Tokyo Drift when 249 cars got gobsmacked during the course of the movie. The fourth movie, Fast and Furious, saw 190 cars get tossed around while Fast Five hit a then-record 260 crashed cars. Fast & Furious 6 pushed the car wreckage counter to 350 cars and Furious 7 contributed the final 230 crashed cars, adding up to 1,487 cars in the first seven movies of the franchise.

The fate of these crashed cars differs depending on their stature in the movie.

Other cars go straight to displays or museums after production ends. Then there are the hero cars that benefit from full restorations before living happy lives. One example of the latter is the Saleen Mustang that got crushed by an 18-wheeler in 2 Fast 2 Furious. That model was fully restored and lives on to this day.
