Brooklyn Dog-Walker Falls Down Stairs, Dies: Report

The man was found dead in the Columbia Waterfront area, police said.

COLUMBIA WATERFRONT, BROOKLYN — A dog-walker in the Columbia Waterfront area between Red Hook and Cobble Hill is dead after he lost control of his dogs and fell down a flight of stairs, according to a report from the New York Daily News.

At 5:22 p.m. Thursday, police found a 53-year-old man unconscious at 15 Carroll St., between Van Brunt and Columbia streets, the NYPD said. EMS pronounced him dead on the scene, police said.

The man was at a second-floor apartment, picking up two dogs, the Daily News reported. Citing police sources, the Daily News reported that "the man lost control of the animals, and was either pushed or knocked down the steps."

The dogs were returned to the owner, the Daily News reported.

The NYPD said the man was found dead, but when reached by Patch on Friday, a spokeswoman could not confirm that he was a dog-walker or had dogs with him.

The man's name was not released, pending family notification, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
